Common stroller problems and fixes: stiff fold, squeaky wheels, brake issues, and wobbly frames.
Most stroller problems are maintenance issues, not defects. Work through these before assuming the frame is finished.
Fold is stiff or sticks halfway
Clean the folding joints with a damp cloth to remove grit, then apply a silicone-based lubricant to the pivot points; avoid oil-based sprays that attract dirt. Check that the storage basket is not overloaded and blocking the fold path, and confirm any fold lock is fully released before forcing the mechanism.
Wheels squeak or wobble
Remove each wheel and clear hair and thread from the axle, which is the most common cause of both squeaking and wobble. Check that quick-release wheels are fully seated and locked. For forever-air tires like the GT2's, inspect for embedded debris; for plastic wheels, check for flat spots from being dragged while braked.
Brake does not hold on slopes
Test the brake on flat ground first to isolate the issue. Clean brake pads and the wheel contact surface, which glaze over with use. On cable brakes like the GT2's hand brake, check cable tension and adjust at the barrel adjuster. If the brake still slips, the pads are worn and need replacement parts from the manufacturer.
Frame feels wobbly or loose
Check every quick-release and locking joint; most wobble traces to a latch that is not fully engaged rather than a broken frame. Tighten handlebar and wheel fasteners to the torque in the manual. If the frame itself flexes after everything is locked, stop using it and contact the manufacturer; do not attempt to reinforce a stroller frame yourself.
