Govee COB Strip Light Pro Review (2026)
In-depth review of the Govee COB Strip Light Pro: smooth dot-free light, warm white, cutting limits, and who should buy it.
Govee COB LED Strip Light Pro H61E6 16.4ft
The visible-run pick: a smooth band of light with no dots, plus warm white, in a silicone sleeve.
Our verdict
The Govee COB Strip Light Pro is the best LED strip for visible runs, because it solves the one problem that makes most strips look cheap: the dots. Its COB design packs the LEDs so closely that the strip looks like one smooth band of light, even in open view along a shelf or a desk edge, and the dedicated warm white diodes give pleasant white light as well as colour. Matter, Alexa, Google, and HomeKit support mean it joins most smart homes. The honest limits are the cost, which is higher than a standard RGBIC strip, and the cutting rule: once cut, it cannot be extended. Buy it if the strip itself will be on show; buy the H619A if the strip will stay hidden.
What we like
- COB technology packs the LEDs so closely that the strip looks like one smooth band of light, with no dots even in open view.
- Dedicated warm white diodes sit alongside the RGB diodes, so the strip can give pleasant white light as well as colour.
- It works with Matter, Alexa, Google Assistant, and HomeKit, so it joins most smart homes without a workaround.
What to watch out for
- It costs more than a standard RGBIC strip, so hidden runs behind furniture do not need what it offers.
- Once cut, the strip cannot be reconnected or extended, so the length must be measured carefully before cutting.
- It is a premium strip in a silicone sleeve, so it is heavier and stiffer than a plain tape strip to route around corners.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants the strip itself on show, such as along a shelf edge, a desk, or a cabinet, with no visible dots.
The smooth light is the upgrade
COB means chip-on-board, and it is the technology that matters here. The LEDs sit so closely together, at 1260 per metre, that the eye cannot pick out individual points, so the strip glows as one continuous band. That is the difference between a strip that looks like a lighting product and a strip that looks like a string of dots. The silicone sleeve softens the light further and protects the strip, which suits a desk edge or a shelf where hands and objects pass close by.
Warm white as well as colour
The dedicated warm white diodes are the second reason to buy this strip. A plain RGB strip mixes its colour diodes to fake white, and the result looks tinted. The COB Pro gives warm white that suits an evening room, alongside the full colour range for accent light. That makes it the only strip here that can credibly do both jobs in a visible run, though a dedicated lamp is still better for long reading sessions.
How it stacks up
Against the Govee H619A, the COB Pro wins on the smooth visible look and warm white, while the H619A wins on cost for hidden runs. Against the Govee Strip Light 2 Pro, the COB Pro wins on the dot-free band, while the 2 Pro wins on colour range and white range. Against Nanoleaf Essentials, the COB Pro wins on the visible finish, while Nanoleaf wins on Matter and Thread support.
What owners report
Commonly praised
- The glow forms one smooth band with no dots anywhere along it.
- Warm white feels cosy in the evening and suits a living room.
- The silicone sleeve gives the strip a finished, premium feel.
Common complaints
- A cut strip cannot be extended, so measuring wrong wastes length.
- The strip feels stiff and resists tight corners.
- The cost runs high for a run that will stay hidden anyway.

Questions, answered
Can I cut the COB Pro to fit?
Yes, it can be cut at the marked points, but a cut strip cannot be reconnected or extended, so measure carefully before cutting.
Does it work with HomeKit?
Yes, it works with Matter, Alexa, Google Assistant, and HomeKit, so it joins most smart homes without a workaround.
Is it bright enough for a kitchen?
It gives pleasant accent and white light, but a dedicated under-cabinet light is still better for task work. Use the COB Pro for ambience and a proper task light for cutting and cooking.
