Head to head
Hollyland Lark M2 Combo vs Lark M2S Mini Combo (2026)
Hollyland Lark M2 Combo vs Lark M2S Mini Combo: three receivers against two, 9-gram mics against 7-gram mics, and the Lightning question.
#4 in our rankings · Best combo value

Hollyland Lark M2 Combo (2 TX + Camera RX + USB-C RX + Lightning RX + Charging Case)
Best for: Creators who switch between a camera, an Android phone, and an iPhone and want one kit for all three.
Our recommendation
Buy the Lark M2 Combo if you own, or might own, a Lightning iPhone, because it is the only one of the two that ships a Lightning receiver. Buy the Lark M2S Mini Combo if you record on a camera and a USB-C phone and want the smallest, lightest mic that almost disappears on camera. The price gap is small, so the decision is really about the Lightning receiver and the 7-gram transmitters, not the money.
Receivers: three against two
The M2 Combo ships a camera receiver, a USB-C receiver, and a Lightning receiver. The M2S Mini Combo ships a camera receiver and a USB-C receiver, and no Lightning receiver. If your household has a Lightning iPhone anywhere in it, the Combo is the safe buy; if every phone you own is USB-C, the Mini Combo loses nothing.
Size and weight
The M2S transmitters weigh 7 grams each with a titanium clip and a pearl shape that sits almost flat on clothing. The M2 transmitters weigh 9 grams each and look like round buttons. Two grams sounds trivial, but on a thin shirt or a close-up, the smaller mic is visibly more discreet.
Battery and audio
Both kits record at 48 kHz and 24-bit with noise cancelling and claim 300 metres of range. The M2S gives 9 hours per transmitter and 30 hours with the case; the M2 Combo claims up to 40 hours with the case on the camera version. Neither records on board, so both need a clean wireless link for every take.
App and controls
Both kits use the LarkSound app for volume, noise cancelling, and battery checks. The M2S adds a one-press noise cancelling toggle on the transmitter, which is handy mid-shoot. Neither kit has a receiver screen, so levels are checked on the phone or the camera, not on the receiver itself.

Strengths and limitations
Hollyland Lark M2 Combo (2 TX + Camera RX + USB-C RX + Lightning RX + Charging Case)
Strengths
- Three receivers in one box cover a camera, a USB-C phone, and a Lightning iPhone without buying adapters.
- The transmitters weigh 9 grams each, so they sit lightly on a shirt and stay discreet on camera.
- The charging case stretches total use to a full day of shooting on the maker claim.
Limitations
- No on-board backup recording, so a dropout is a lost line rather than a recoverable file.
- Three receivers means keeping track of the two you are not using, or they get left behind.
- The round button mics look distinct on camera, which some presenters find less discreet than a black clip-on.
Hollyland Lark M2S Mini Combo (Camera RX + USB-C RX)
Strengths
- At 7 grams each, the transmitters are among the lightest here and barely show on clothing.
- The Mini Combo covers both a camera and a USB-C phone, which is the pairing most creators actually use.
- The LarkSound app gives volume, noise cancelling, and battery checks from the phone.
Limitations
- No Lightning receiver in this kit, so older iPhones need the full Combo version instead.
- No on-board backup recording if the wireless link drops.
- The tiny transmitters are easy to misplace, and the pearl shape needs its clip or magnet to stay put.

Questions, answered
Can I add a Lightning receiver to the M2S Mini Combo later?
Not as part of this kit. The Mini Combo ships without one, and the Lightning receiver comes with the full M2 Combo. If you think a Lightning iPhone is likely, buy the Combo first rather than planning an upgrade.
Which one is better for streaming?
The M2S Mini Combo, by a small margin, because the smaller transmitters stay out of the frame on a close-up and the USB-C receiver plugs straight into the streaming phone or computer. The M2 Combo is just as capable; it only shows a slightly larger mic.
Are the transmitters interchangeable between the two kits?
No. M2 transmitters pair with M2 receivers and M2S transmitters pair with M2S receivers, even though both use the LarkSound app. Buy spares from the same line as the kit you own.
