Floor Lamps: Reviews, Comparisons & Buying Guide
Light that lifts a room: bright torchieres, slim smart lamps, and reading lights that actually reach the page.
A floor lamp does two jobs at once. It lights the room, and it changes how the room feels after dark. A good torchiere bounces light off the ceiling and makes a whole living room usable, while a good reading lamp puts a focused pool of light exactly where the book is. The mistake most buyers make is choosing on looks alone and discovering too late that the lamp is too dim, too harsh, or too wide for the corner it was bought for.
The picks below cover the full range: bright torchieres for living rooms, slim smart lamps for corners, a tripod lamp for style-led rooms, and adjustable lamps for readers and crafters. Every pick is a current model with a verified Amazon listing, and every trade-off is stated plainly, including the lamps that need a separate bulb and the smart lamps that need an app.
